Just in case you’re not familiar, a simmer pot is simply when you bring water to a slow shimmer and fill it with highly fragranced ingredients, like foods and spices, in order to fill a home with fragrance. Think of it like cooking smells but on purpose.
TikTok content creator Carolina McCauley took to her account to showcase how you can make a simmer pot with common holiday ingredients and make your home smell extra festive during the holiday season.

To start, you’ll add water to a pot and toss in slices of citrus like oranges or grapefruit, cranberries, cinnamon sticks, and rosemary. Place the pot on the stove and bring it to a slow boil. The scents will meld together and fill your home as long as the pot is left simmering.

McCauley’s recipe is just one of the many variations you can do, and you can make them as simple or complex as you’d like. For example, you can use a tea infuser and fill it with loose spices like cloves and add it to the pot. You could also use a slow cooker instead of a pot.
