This Floating Ornament Décor Is So Cool

No, it’s not even Thanksgiving yet. If, however, you’re already in the Christmas spirit or are planning your decor in advance, there’s a simple TikTok ornament hack that might be perfect.

TikTok content creator Avant-Garde Home used fishing line and clear command hooks to create the illusion of floating ornaments in her bookshelves. The result is gorgeous.

For the easy decor DIY, you’ll adhere four or five clear command hooks (you can do more or less depending on the size of your shelves) to the top of a shelf. Then, using fishing line, string a few Christmas balls. They can be any color, shape, or pattern depending on your own decor preferences. Once strung, simply hang the balls on the command hooks. Because both the line and the hooks are clear, your ornaments will look like they’re floating within your shelves.

This isn’t the first holiday decor to hit TikTok, though. Just a few days ago, Anne McSherry’s epic 800 ornament arch started trending on the platform. The DIY saw shining multi-colored, multi-shaped Christmas balls strung up with chicken wire around an archway in her home. While the result is gorgeous, this simple bookshelf DIY is definitely the simpler of the decor options.
