While the farmhouse style and white cabinets are still holding strong for kitchen design, there’s a new, more elaborate trend on the horizon for 2022.

Chandeliers and statement lighting are set to be major kitchen trends in the upcoming year.

To discover what trends are coming up for the next year, Wren Kitchens, a design site and manufacturer for kitchens, looked at Pinterest images described as 2022 trends and compiled the most common elements. Chandeliers and statement lighting were some of the top results.

According to the site’s findings, over half of the trending kitchens featured a hanging light fixture that acted as the centerpiece of the entire room. They were also styled to blend with another statement feature, an island. Hanging pendant lights were a common feature, but true glass chandeliers and sputnik pieces are also common fixtures for kitchens.

Light fixtures weren’t the only statements to expect from kitchen design in 2022. While white has been having a moment for quite a long time, dark hues are in for the new year.

According to Wren Kitchen’s research, shades like deep royal blue, charcoal grey, and greens are all going to gain popularity. It’s in part because of their soothing and tranquil nature. You’ll also be seeing more two-toned designs as well with pairings like wood with the deep shades being particularly beloved.

If you have a kitchen remodel in mind for 2022 or just want a fresh coat of paint, a kitchen chandelier and some dark hues might be in your future.
