If you’ve ever attempted to put together a gingerbread house using a store-bought kit, you know it can be a challenge. Thankfully, there’s a new trick for it.

TikTok Content creator Anita at Tasty Entertaining says to use melted sugar to ensure the house stays together.

In the video, Anita explains that she’s put together several gingerbread houses in her life, and this is the way to get them to stay in one piece. First, she pours roughly two or three cups of sugar into a pan. Then, on medium heat, she melts it down until it has a glue-like consistency.

Once melted, Anita places the edges of her gingerbread houses directly into the sugar and pieces them together. Because the sugar dries quickly (unlike the royal icing that commonly comes in kits), the house is built in no time. Anita does warn, though, that you should be extremely careful not to touch the hot sugar as it causes quite the burn.
