We can’t all be gingerbread house-building wizards. However, some are, and their holiday creations are next level.
Baker Andie Bryce crafted the cottage from The Holiday out of gingerbread, and it’s the perfect homage to the beloved holiday film.
In the film, American Amanda, played by Cameron Diaz, switches homes with the British Iris, portrayed by Kate Winslet. It’s Amanda who ends up staying in the quaint English cottage called Rosehill. It’s the same cottage Bryce re-created on Instagram to practical perfection.
The cottage took Bryce roughly 20 hours to create according to Magnet, a U.K.-based kitchen design and retail specialist, and is made from shredded wheat (which forms the roof), candy windows, and candy-crafted stonework. Altogether, the house took 10 different sections of gingerbread.
While it might feel impossible to recreate the artist’s replica of the cottage, that might not be true. Bryce and her family run Judy’s Gingerbread, a company that seeks to keep the tradition of building gingerbread houses alive. They’ve actually been crafting the holiday treats for four generations. You can buy their templates.
The cottage’s template can be purchased for just $7.99 on the website and is a digital download so you’ll get it instantly if you want to craft your own over Christmas.
If you’ve yet to build a house this year, The Holiday cottage might be worth a shot, and for those who need a little extra help getting their homes to stay upright, check out this clever hack.
