Unfortunately, Christmas is over, but there’s still one more holiday left before the year ends. If you’re still expecting a few holiday deliveries, you might be wondering about the mail.
According to the United States Postal Service, those later holiday letters and gifts will need to wait an extra day. The mail will not run on New Year’s Day.
Don’t despair too much, though. You will get the final cards and presents on New Year’s Eve. The mail will run as usual on the last day of the year. As for other delivery services, FedEx will run as usual on New Year’s Eve (though you’ll want to check your local stores for modified hours). Come New Year’s day, though, the drivers and store employees will have a day off work, and it’ll extend into Sunday, Jan. 2 as well.
As for UPS, on New Year’s Eve, most services—including standard ground pickup and delivery—will not be running, but UPS Air and International Air will be. As for New Year’s Day, there will be no services save for those of UPS Express Critical. Normal hours for stores, delivery, and pickup will resume on Monday, Jan. 3.
While you won’t be getting any packages on New Year’s Day, you can still sit back, relax, and welcome the new year—maybe with a little Charlie Brown.
