The American Red Cross is currently experiencing its worst blood shortage in a decade. To get more people to donate, the organization is teaming up with Krispy Kreme.

If you donate blood through the American Red Cross from Jan. 24-Jan. 31, bring your donation sticker into Krispy Kreme or show confirmation of your donation on the Red Cross app to employees, and you’ll be given a free dozen glazed doughnuts.

While the Red Cross needs all types of blood, O positive and O negative as well platelet donations (which still qualify for the Krispy Kreme offer), all types are encouraged to donate. To make an appointment, you can visit the Red Cross website, download its blood donor app, or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).

“Our Red Cross teams are working around the clock to meet the needs of hospital patients but can’t do it alone,” said Paul Sullivan, senior vice president of donor services for the American Red Cross. “We hope this thank you from Krispy Kreme will help provide a ‘dozen more reasons’ for eligible individuals to make and keep their donation appointments in the days ahead.”
