Whether it’s thanks to Marie Kondo or the women of The Home Edit, decluttering has become a major staple in cleaning routines. If you’re sick of it, though, there is one item you never have to declutter.
According to experts, you can have as many throw blankets as you want and never donate them or throw them out.
Since most organization and décor experts would seem to argue that all home goods need to be decluttered every once in a while, what makes blankets different? According to Lynne Henderlong Rhea, founder of Mombo Interiors, it’s all about comfort and coziness.
Rhea explained that at seminars she has attended, there’s a major emphasis placed on the idea of “clutter-free comfort,” and consumers are seeking it in their decor items—namely blankets.

Apparently, it's true. You really can't have too many blankets.
“People want this comfort, grounding from nature, and some of these things that are coming back in, and blankets are a big part of that,” said Rhea.
Blankets aren’t just cozy ways to keep warm, though, according to Rhea. The founder also said they make great décor pieces and can add texture and interest to a room, and they’re perfect for softening harsh pieces of furniture and bringing warmth into a space.
The next time you’re ready to declutter, don’t worry about the blankets. In fact, can we interest you in some of our personal favorites?
