Why You Need a Storage Ottoman in Your Bedroom

Home stagers know how to make a space look good. After all, it is their job. One of their biggest tips is avoiding clutter, and there’s a specific way to do it in your bedroom.

According to one expert, a storage ottoman is a must-have.

Carol Smith, the founder of Charlotte, North Carolina-based Creative Home Stagers, said that keeping clutter out of view is a must for a pristine bedroom, and storage ottomans help with that.

“In a lot of [primary bedrooms] there’s a place to sit, and if a bedroom has a side chair, we like to use a storage ottoman as a footstool or use a large basket next to the chair,” Smith said. “In that, you can pile pillows or throws.”

Whether it’s a second or third pair of sheets, seasonal throw pillows, or extra blankets, an ottoman not only keeps clutter out of the way, it also makes switching out your bedding easier thanks to the accessibility. If you already have a linen closet, the ottoman can still be useful for storing extra clothing or outerwear.

Smith also added that you can opt for small chests as nightstands for the same reason. After all, you don’t want to place small items into a large ottoman. Stash your books, cords and chargers, lotions, and any other bedside needs so that they’re out of sight.

If you’ve been struggling with a cluttered nightstand or overflowing closet, an ottoman might be the solution to your bedroom clutter.
