How to Get the Smoothest Paint Job Ever

A person paints a wall with a roller, and then, they go over it with a squeegee

If you’ve ever painted a room, you know that the process can be much more complicated than people might think. There are tight corners to consider and layers to add. For those who concern themselves with smoothness, there might just be a hack out there for you.

Apparently, all you need for a perfectly smooth paint application is a squeegee.

While we might be somewhat dubious of this hack and recommend you try a small part of your wall first, content creator Sharnene Jewell has some pretty significant results in a TikTok video.

In the upload, Jewell begins by using a traditional paint roller and applying paint to her wall. Then, she uses a squeegee and removes the excess while also smoothing out the leftover paint. By the end of the quick snapshot, she’s got perfectly flat, clean, and baby smooth walls.

While the hack certainly isn’t without merit and likely works, you do need to account for the time that will be added to your process. Because the squeegee will take away some of the freshly applied paint, there’s a good chance you’ll need to add more layers to the painting process. That will, of course, cost you more time. However, you won’t need to concern yourself with going back and fixing any lumpy bits of your paint job.

Ultimately, we recommend taking this hack with a grain of salt, but like a lot of tips and tricks on the internet, it might be worth the old college try. Hey, if this doesn’t work out, there’s always the seashell painting method to try.
