If you’re an avid coffee consumer, you’re well acquainted with the way it can stain. While harmless, those brown stains inside your travel mug aren’t exactly appetizing. Thankfully, though, you can get rid of them, and the method might surprise you.
Denture cleaner can help remove stains from your coffee mug.
Yes, we know that sounds strange, but it doesn’t make it untrue. Dentures‘ key ingredient is sodium bicarbonate also known as baking soda. All you need to do is drop a denture tablet into water and allow the fizzing bubbles to do their work. Then, use a bottle brush and scrub at the sides. Rinse with warm water and allow to air dry.
Of course, not everyone has denture tabs on hand, but if you’ve got some vinegar and baking soda, you can do the same thing. Place half a teaspoon of baking soda into the bottom of your dry mug. Then, add half a cup of vinegar. Allow the solution to bubble until it fades. Then, scrub with a brush, rinse thoroughly, and air dry.
In both cases, the fizzing acts as an abrasive agent, breaking down materials that are stuck to the mug. If you want to ensure everything is cleared out, you can always follow up this process with a bit of dish detergent and water as well.
The next time you look down into your travel mug and realize there’s some residual coffee staining, it might be time to buy some denture cleaner.
