Want free chicken sandwiches? The creator of one of the most famous chicken sandwiches and a food delivery service are teaming up to bring you one every Friday this summer.
Popeye’s and Grubhub are giving out a free chicken sandwich with orders of $20 or more purchased through the delivery service’s app.
The freebie deal, which starts July 1, is actually a returning promotion from last year. It was so successful that it’s back for 2022.
To get your free chicken sandwich, you’ll need to order via Grubhub (you can download the app for iPhone and Android). Add $20 of Popeye’s to your cart, and a free chicken sandwich will be added. Plus, you’ll get free delivery, too. All of this will automatically apply at checkout. You’ve got through Aug. 26 to take advantage.
The deal is particularly exciting for foodies who followed the chicken sandwich wars that occurred throughout 2020 and 2021. Nearly every major fast food brand reformulated, relaunched, or debuted a new take on the chicken sandwich, and yes, it even included Taco Bell.
Arguably, though, Popeye’s was the progenitor of these poultry battles. The brand went viral (alongside Wendy’s and Chick-fil-A) for engaging in a fun Twitter feud over who had the best sandwich back in 2019. A year later and brand after brand (including chains like Chili’s) had joined in the battle for the best chicken sandwich.
