Surprise! Your Mattress Can Double as Sheet Storage

Even if you live alone, you probably own more than one set of bedsheets and pillowcases, and maybe a few spare blankets as well. But handy as these extra items are, they’re a bit bulky and take up a lot of space in your linen cupboard and closet– space you might not have to spare, especially in a small studio or one-bedroom apartment.

Turns out you’ve been– quite literally– sleeping on a solution the entire time.

And no, we’re not talking about bed frames with built-in storage drawers. (Although those are cool too.)

So cool, in fact, that we're recommending one to you.

You can stash any extra bedding sets you own right underneath the very mattress you’ve been sleeping on every night. First, fold all your spare sheets and pillowcases neatly. (Yes, even the fitted sheet, if you have one.)

Next, group all the matching bedding sets together and stack them on top of one another. Alternatively, you can make a bundle out of each set by sliding the folded sheets and one of the pillowcases inside the second pillowcase, if it’s large enough.

Finally, lift up your mattress and stash the stacked sheets or bundles underneath it, in between the mattress and your bed frame (or between your mattress and box spring, if you have one), and you’re all set!

This hack will not only free up valuable storage space but you may find it keeps your sheets better organized– and they’ll be right at hand when the time comes to remake your bed.
