Toothpaste is an essential item in the bathroom, but it’s also a great cleaning product for items around your house. You can use it to make your jewelry and shoes sparkle as well as your teeth.

The Spruce suggests using this handy tool to polish the rubber rim around your sneakers. Simply dab a small dollop of toothpaste onto a cleaning brush and scrub away. After wiping off the dirt, dry the excess toothpaste with a damp cloth. Your shoes will be back to looking brand new!

You can also use toothpaste to buff out residue or scuff marks. Add a little bit of toothpaste to a soft cloth to prevent scratching. This technique works best for leather and vinyl shoes. Be warned that the article recommends keeping toothpaste far away from your boots or suede leather shoes.

This four-pack ensures you have enough toothpaste to clean your shoes and brighten your smile.

Toothpaste can also polish your jewelry and give it a little more sparkle. Use a cleaning toothbrush to scrub the piece of jewelry. Then wipe and clean with a damp cloth to find the extra shine. This trick works great for your silver jewelry or diamonds, but be careful with more delicate jewelry. The bristles on the toothbrush can scratch your beloved accessories.

This toothpaste cleaning technique also works on buildup on the bottom of your iron. Just make sure your iron plate is completely cool before cleaning.

Next time you notice something in your home that could use a polish, try reaching for a tube of toothpaste. It just might do the trick.
