Hanging a picture frame can be a daunting task. Not only do you have to make sure it’s leveled, but you also have to hammer the nails in the exact spot on the wall so that they perfectly line up with the frame. What if there was a hack to make hanging a picture frame way easier?

Surprise! There is—and all you need is a little toothpaste.

This hack has been around for a while but appears to have resurfaced on TikTok thanks to @Aliyarinaldi. Ever since, it has received three million views. It’s no wonder. It’s a fun technique to get a picture frame exactly where you want it, every time.

To hang a picture frame easily using toothpaste, all you have to do is dab a bit on the back where the nail hangs.

Then, hold your picture up to the wall exactly where you want it to go, and tap it on the wall so that the toothpaste leaves a mark. After that, take your nail and place it right on that dab of toothpaste, and hammer.

Wipe the toothpaste off with a napkin, hang the picture, and ta-da!

The perfect addition to your evolving tool kit.

And no, you don’t have to use toothpaste, any creamy product will work for this hack, as long as it doesn’t stain the wall (or leave an unpleasant smell, of course).

Hanging a picture is no longer as scary as it once was. If only there was a hack for dusting said frames without lifting a finger. Wouldn’t that be the day!
