For those who aren’t tool experts (hi, that’s me), you might not think about the fact that tools rust. Thankfully, there are plenty of products that exist to ensure this doesn’t happen, but you might not have them on hand.
Before you run to your local home improvement store, use blackboard chalk to prevent rust.
Iron and steel tools often rust when exposed to moisture in the air. If left untreated, they can become brittle and eventually break, which can be dangerous (not to mention costly). By placing a few pieces of good ol’ chalk in your toolbox, the chalk will absorb all the moisture in the air, keeping tools shiny and free of rust.
And while you’re at it, toss a few small pieces of chalk into other areas where you store common stainless-steel products like jewelry boxes and silverware drawers. Just be sure to replace the chalk every few months, as the same pieces aren’t likely to protect your tools for an extended period of time.
While you have that box of chalk out, head to your laundry room because it can remove those laundry stains too!
