If you’re a frequent user of Pine-Sol, it’s time to check your stock. Clorox has issued a recall of 37 million bottles of Pine-Sol due to potentially harmful bacteria.

While original pine-scented Pine-Sol has not been recalled, the following eight versions of Pine-Sol have been:

  • Pine-Sol Scented Multi-Surface Cleaner in Lavender Clean
  • Pine-Sol Scented Multi-Surface Cleaner in Sparkling Wave
  • Pine-Sol Scented Multi-Surface Cleaner in Lemon Fresh,
  • CloroxPro Pine-Sol All Purpose Cleaner in Lavender Clean
  • CloroxPro Pine-Sol All Purpose Cleaner in Sparkling Wave,
  • CloroxPro Pine-Sol All Purpose Cleaner in Lemon Fresh
  • CloroxPro Pine-Sol All Purpose Cleaner in Orange Energy
  • Clorox Professional Pine-Sol Lemon Fresh Cleaners

The reason for the recall is potential contamination with Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a bacteria that can cause harm and illness in those with compromised immune systems or those with external medical devices. The bacteria can enter the body via inhalation, through the eyes, or via a break in the skin.

The products in the recall were made between January 2021 and September 2022 and were sold nationwide at Walmart, Target, Sam’s Club, Kroger, and Dollar Tree. The bottles’ date codes begin with “A4” followed by a five-digit number below 22249.

If you discover the Pine-Sol product in your pantry, you should immediately throw it away. Then, you can visit Pine-Sol’s recall website for your refund.
