Why You Should Stop Sleeping With a Pillow

Some nights go by, and you might find yourself tossing and turning for hours on end. Or maybe you wake up with a miserable kink in your neck. Either way, you deserve a better night’s sleep.

If you sleep on your stomach, you might actually sleep better without a pillow.

Removing the pillow can help align your spine with the flat surface of the mattress. This process can help you form better posture and alleviate neck pain.

This method, however, will also depend on the comfort of your mattress. If your mattress is firm, it could be difficult to adjust to no pillow. On the other hand, if your mattress is too soft, your spine could sag and result in back pain. You’ll want to ensure your mattress is the right amount of soft and firm to pull off the best amount of sleep without a pillow.

Sometimes a body pillow might provide the support your body needs.

If you sleep on your side or back, you might still want to hang onto your pillow. Taking away this item could worsen your posture with how your neck and shoulders are aligned when you sleep.

If you’ve ever felt like pillows get in the way at night or you just can’t seem to wake up without a crick in your neck, you might want to ditch the pillow. If you do plan to hang onto your pillow, though, and it’s getting a little stiff, learn how to revive it for a better night’s sleep.
