When it comes to adding a burst of flavor, nothing does it quite like fresh garlic. If you’ve got a head of garlic in need of peeling before you start cooking, you’re probably dreading the peeling process. Well, there’s a simple solution, and it comes directly from a garlic farmer.

According to garlic farmer and TikTok creator @newdawnfields a little heat will have your garlic peelable without a knife in seconds.

The creator, a garlic farmer at New Dawn Fields, explained in a video that heat is the quickest and easiest way to peel a head of garlic. Using any other technique might just be making things harder for yourself.

The video has amassed a whopping one million views, and its simplicity is likely why. In the video, the creator explains that all you need to do is toss your garlic in the microwave for 10-20 seconds. Take it out, allow it to cool down enough to touch, and it’ll be easily peelable. Truly, that’s it. They even demonstrate the process in the video.

Several commenters have sung the hacks praises, and others have even offered excellent ideas on incorporating your hack into the cooking process. One person suggested tossing the garlic onto a pan as the oven preheated so you’re barely taking any extra steps. Genius, right?

The next time you want to make a garlic-heavy dish but are dreading peeling that head, heat is the answer.
