When it comes to repelling pests, you might be surprised to learn that a simple jar of Vaseline can be your secret weapon. Yes, that’s right—this versatile and gooey substance has a knack for keeping unwanted critters at bay.

It turns out that Vaseline is slippery, sticky, and unpleasant to a lot of different insects.

Vaseline works its magic by creating a slippery barrier that a lot of pests can’t handle. Try applying a thin layer of Vaseline to surfaces where pests like ants, spiders, or even slugs are causing havoc. As they encounter your DIY pest control, they quickly retreat, leaving you with a pest-free zone.

Stock up on your Vaseline and stay pest-free this summer.

It may help to draw a line of Vaseline near common pest entry points, such as windowsills or door frames. Tiny intruders like ants will find themselves trapped in the gooey strip and unable to march on into your kitchen or dining room.

Alternatively, you can use Vaseline carefully in your garden. Make sure not to apply any to plant foliage, since Vaseline may damage them. Try spreading a thin coat of Vaseline around the base of plant pots or plant stems to prevent insects from climbing up.

One of the great things about Vaseline is its versatility. From repelling or trapping bugs to soothing dry skin, it’s a multi-purpose product that can come to the rescue in various situations. It’s not a bad idea to keep some backups on hand in case you need it.
