This Incredible Shipping Container Home Was Built in Only Two Days

MB Architecture/Instagram

Rome wasn’t built in a day, but this gorgeous vacation home made out of six shipping containers almost was! MB Architecture built it and, thanks to its premade interiors, the home was assembled in just two days.

According to Home Edit, this house was designed to promote flow throughout. The 40-foot long containers were bolted together, and huge glass window panes were added, so there was a seamless difference between the indoor and outdoor spaces.

The home, which is located in Amagansett, N.Y., doesn’t just have a stunning architectural design—the interiors are also something to see.

Inside, the white walls (as well as those windows) keep the space bright and airy. The furniture, including an orange couch, blue bedding, and patterned curtains, add pops of color.

Thrilled that our Amagansett Modular House has won an AIA award. The house was installed in two days, and completed shortly thereafter. It's not easy to prefabricate buildings, but after ten years of research, prototyping and installation, we've ironed out the wrinkles and figured things out. The home is affectionately referred to as an “Insta-house” thanks to its two-day assembly time. It was created by the minds over at MB Architecture, but this isn’t its first.

According to the official Insta-house Instagram, the original design was created in 2009 as an art studio. Since then, the firm has perfected the design, and the new home was born.

According to MB Architecture’s website, you can actually have one of your own! The team is now creating affordable, sustainable homes across the U.S.

If living in a chic shipping container sounds like a dream, you can make it happen!
