Malibu Canned Cocktails Are Here for Spring

Malibu Splash in four flavors
Malibu

When you think of warmer weather, certain things come to mind: food cooking on a grill, the smell of sunscreen, and a perfect cocktail. This spring and summer, Malibu has taken the work out of the latter.

Malibu canned cocktails have arrived in time to kick off spring. These tropically flavored malt beverages might just give White Claw a run for its money.

The new Malibu canned cocktails, called Malibu Splash, come in four flavors based on the rum brand’s well-known coconut base: strawberry coconut, lime coconut, passion fruit coconut, and pineapple coconut. While this is Malibu, there’s no actual rum in these cans. Instead, similar to  concoctions from Smirnoff, the drinks are malt beverages—but they still pack a punch at 5% ABV per can.

Those who love a good Malibu-based cocktail in the summer will be pleased with the price. The drinks have both a single flavor pack of four and a multiflavor pack of eight with the first retailing for $8.99 and the second ringing in at $16.99. The summer-ready drinks rolled out Feb. 1, but they have become increasingly available over the past few weeks.

If you want to snag your own, Malibu has a handy store locator on their website, and don’t worry if you don’t see them near you quite yet. Malibu Splash is a permanent addition to the brand’s lineup.

If these drinks seem familiar and you’re thinking you’ve seen them before, there’s a good reason. The new Splashes aren’t the liquor brand’s first canned drink creations. Malibu also offers pre-mixed cocktails sold in cans. You might have seen those in your past, but the new Splashes skew more toward the brand attempting to compete with other sparkling, malt beverage options like White Claw, Barefoot, Smirnoff, and even Budweiser.

When it comes to canned cocktails and seltzer, plenty of options are available. But anyone on the hunt for the perfect spring and summer drink might just find Malibu Splash as their new go-to.
