Have some instant coffee, water, and sugar on hand? Congratulations, you can make the coffee sensation making the viral video rounds: dalgona coffee.
What exactly is dalgona coffee? The name of the coffee is derived from a South Korean toffee candy of the same name—the process of whipping together hot water, sugar, and instant coffee creates a thick foam that resembles dalgona toffee candy during the spongy cooling phase before it is punched down.
While it sort of resembled melted peanut butter in color and texture, the foam is a delicious coffee blend that people around the world are spooning on top of milk or coffee at home to make a really unique and yummy coffee drink.
In the following video, James Hoffman walks you through the process and shows you how to upgrade the experience:
No instant coffee on hand? Might be time to add a jar to your next Instacart order to give your daily coffee ritual a little variety.
