Here’s Why Art Deco Decor Is Trending

Decor trends come and go, but one is making a comeback. Art Deco decor has seen a boom recently, and there’s a theory about why.

Of course, the most obvious reason is that it’s 2020. It’s been 100 years since the rip-roaring decade often associated with gangsters, speakeasies, and flappers, and it seems people might be feeling nostalgic. The bigger reason, however, comes down to how modern decor is beginning to change.

Martha Stewart Living spoke with Etsy trend expert, Dayna Isom Johnson, about the resurgence. She believes the rise in popularity of Art Deco is more about a return to a maximalist style. While minimalism experienced a massive uptick from 2018-19, Etsy searches for over-the-top designs, like Art-Deco-themed wallpaper and sunburst mirrors, have increased. These items allow people to “add a touch of luxe to their homes.”

From custom-made mirrors to peel-and-stick wallpaper, if you, too, want to embrace maximalist, Art Deco design, Etsy is the place. To learn more about how to incorporate the designs in your space, Martha Stewart Living has all the details.
