One of the country’s largest retailers has changed its holiday plans. Walmart will close for Thanksgiving Day in 2020.
The big-box retailer hasn’t closed its doors on Thanksgiving in the last 30 years, but that’s changing now. While the day is typically used to prep for Black Friday, associates will have the time off now. President and CEO of Walmart John Furner said in a press release, “We know this has been a trying year, and our associates have stepped up. We hope they will enjoy a special Thanksgiving Day at home with their loved ones. We are certainly thankful to our people for all of their efforts.”
Walmart has not shared its hours for Black Friday or the day before Thanksgiving, but they are forthcoming. In addition to Walmart stores, Sam’s Club locations will also continue to be closed as is their normal routine for the holidays.
