ALDI Is Opening 70 New Stores

Most retailers are struggling due to the pandemic, but not ALDI. The affordable grocery store will open 70 more stores in 2020.

According to a recent press release, ALDI now has 2,000 stores, and to celebrate, more are coming! A total of 70 new stores will open before the end of 2020, with the grocery store looking to expand to both coasts.

This expansion will mark the store’s first opening in Arizona, making it the 37th state in which there’s at least one ALDI. In 2021, the retailer will also open a headquarters and distribution center in Loxley, Alabama.

With many retailers, like Bed, Bath, & Beyond and Pier 1, closing stores, ALDI’s decision seems to indicate its low-cost model has been beneficial as people look to cut costs during the pandemic. Even CEO, Jason Hart, believes this is the case.

“Each new store is an opportunity to serve another community,” Hart said in a statement, “which is an honor and responsibility we do not take lightly. As we continue to expand, we promise to do everything in our power to offer the lowest prices, every day, without exception. In fact, as food costs are rising across the country, we’re lowering prices on hundreds of items to meet our customers’ increased need for savings.”

If you don’t yet have an ALDI in your area, one might just pop up soon.
