This $500 Cloud Lamp Might Be Worth the Price

RGB cloud lamps "floating" in a room.
Richard Clarkson

If you’ve ever wanted to feel like you’re sleeping among the clouds, there might be a way to do it—-for $500.

Artist Richard Clarkson has created an interactive cloud lamp that’s a hybrid of sculpture and lighting fixture. It has the whimsy you might be craving, along with a techy bit of flair. It looks just like a fluffy, white storm cloud suspended from your ceiling—plus, it lights up! It does even more than that, though.

The LEDs can switch between multiple colors, including red, blue, and green. You can also sync the light to your music via Bluetooth and change the colors by sound. There’s even an option to create a mini thunderstorm.

But is it worth the $499 starting price? Maybe.

The small floating lamp isn’t the only model in the collection, either. Clarkson also created a floating mobile, that features multiple cloud lamps if you want an even more whimsical vibe and a lampshade cloud for floor lamps.

The prices reach all the way into thousands, but, hey, these cool conversation pieces might be worth the investment to some folks. If not, you can just keep watching the video above.
