If you’ve ever had to deal with fruit flies, you’re probably well acquainted with just how obnoxious the tiny little flying monsters can be. The good news is there’s a DIY fruit-fly trap that will help you out.

Melissa Epifano, a contributor at My First Apartment, created a genius hack using items you likely already have in your pantry. All you need is some apple cider vinegar, dish soap, plastic wrap, a toothpick or knife, and a glass jar.

You just mix the apple cider vinegar and dish soap in the jar, cover it with the plastic, and then create a hole. Set the concoction next to your fruit bowl and watch the flies go to their cidery graves.

When it’s full, just empty it and create a new batch!
