Halloween looks a little different in 2020, but there is a bit of good news. You can take a virtual haunted house tour to get your spooky fix this season.
Going to an actual haunted house where you’re screaming and packed into tight often enclosed spaces with other people may not be the thing a lot of people—even thrill-seekers—want to do this year. Thankfully, there’s the internet. There are a plethora of haunted options to explore online. Sure, a man with a chainsaw isn’t going to leap out at you, and a creepy clown won’t chase you down a hallway, but you can still learn more about some actually haunted sights.
Perhaps one of the coolest options out there is the virtual tour of The Stanley Hotel. If the name doesn’t sound familiar, you probably know about this place even if you don’t realize it. The hotel is the inspiration for the Overlook Hotel in Steven King’s novel The Shining and the location of the film adaptation. The tour takes you through the entire place with a subsequent video that allows you to tour the famous room 217.
Other online tours include the sites of the Salem Witch Trials, the Lizzie Borden house, and the Queen Mary. If you want a full list of all the creepy places to visit online this Halloween, you can check out House Beautiful’s roundup.
