While there are likely aisles and aisles of Halloween candy decorating the shelves at your local supermarket right now, turns out, not all of them are created equal. There’s a favorite out there that may surprise you.
Chocolate lovers, in particular, may be shocked to find that America’s favorite Halloween candy isn’t, well, chocolate. Instead, according to job-hunting site Zippia, it’s the Starburst. The site looked at Google trend data to analyze the most popular Halloween candy in each state and found that the chewy fruit-flavored pieces topped the lists in most states. A total of six favored Starbursts above other options.

That, however, doesn’t mean chocolate isn’t popular. Zippia did find that, when looking at the top candy in each state, chocolate and non-chocolate candies are neck and neck when it comes to holistic popularity. As for other popular options, Airheads, Kit Kats, and Twizzlers were all found to be popular in multiple states.
If you plan to create a socially distanced trick-or-treating experience and want to know what kiddos may want, or you’re just curious about your own state’s favorite candy, you can check out the full details on top Halloween candies over at Zippia.
