Instagram’s Unflattering Dog Photo Challenge Is Must-See

Dog lovers know that their pup is the most adorable thing on the planet—but not always. Instagram’s unflattering dog photo challenge has pet owners posting the most bizarre photos of their pups to the platform, and it’s all must-see.

The trend is fairly simple. All of those silly photos of your dog that are lined up in rows on your phone should now be posted to Instagram with the hashtag #unflatteringdogphotochallenge. No, you won’t win a prize, and no, there’s no official sponsor of this trend. What it is, though, is a stellar good time for dog lovers who want to enjoy a moment of joy courtesy of fuzzy friends.

The trend appears to have initially begun a few weeks ago but not with pooches. Cats were the first to go viral on social media (likely not a big shock for those who spend a lot of time online). Just like their canine counterparts, cat owners posted the oddest images of their cats to social media with the same hashtag, but with, you know, cats. The results are equally as hilarious.

Whether you’re a dog or cat person (or both), these challenges are the uplifting thing you need to check out on social media.
