Dalgona coffee, cloud bread, anything available on Postmates — each year has trendy foods these just happen to be some of 2020’s. But what’s on the horizon? Whole Foods 2021 food trends is predicting what flavors and treats will dominate next year.
To arrive at its predictions, Whole Foods assembles a panel of food experts it has dubbed its Trends Councils. Members include the chains’ president of grocery, local brand coordinator, product development lead, and its culinary lead. Between their expertise, they divined what may be big in 2021, and coffee everything is one of them.
Perhaps it’s a holdover from the Dalgona coffee days of 2020, but Whole Foods is predicting that coffee and all things coffee-flavored will dominate the next year. In its report, the chain explains, “The love affair between humans and coffee burns way beyond a brewed pot of joe. That’s right, java is giving a jolt to all kinds of food. You can now get your coffee fix in the form of coffee-flavored bars and granolas, smoothie boosters and booze, even coffee yogurt for those looking to crank up that breakfast parfait.”
