Say goodbye to those farmhouse-style kitchens you’ve become accustomed to seeing on HGTV. According to a survey, there’s a new kitchen trend coming in 2021, and it might surprise you.
To predict upcoming decor trends, Wren Kitchens analyzed 500,000 Instagram posts from the U.S. to find the most common design themes. As it turns out, farmhouse style is no longer No. 1.
Instead, modern kitchens with clean lines and strong angles came out on top. However, if you have (and love) a farmhouse-style kitchen, don’t worry too much—it was still the second most Instagrammable look. So, although it’s no longer at the top of the list, it’s still a popular style.

The survey didn’t just examine different styles, though. Wren Kitchens also got down to the nitty-gritty features people love the most (at least on Instagram). It probably won’t shock you to learn that granite countertops scored the No. 1 slot when it comes to features.
They were followed by pantry cabinets. As for kitchen colors, white and black won as the most popular for 2021. In spots three and four, though, you find blue and green kitchens.
