Deli Containers Are the Secret to a Perfect Kitchen

A cabinet is filled with deli containers full of spices and food.

When you think of kitchen storage, your brain likely goes to draw organizers, lazy susans, and ways to stack your pans. But apparently, all you need for an organized kitchen is deli containers.

Columnist for Food & Wine Jonah Reider explained his love of the plastic containers on Vice’s Munchies YouTube channel. In the video, Reider gives viewers a look into his own space and shows off that every bit of his food—spices, drinks, grains, everything—is stored in clear plastic deli containers. Why? Reider gives multiple reasons why his storage method works, and they’re all pretty convincing.

First, Reider explains that due to the clear plastic design, the containers make it easy to find what you’re looking for while cooking. Plus, they’re also easy to label. Reider uses just a bit of masking tape and a sharpie to create his. As he demonstrates in the video, no matter how many of the containers you stack or how many stacks you have in your cabinet, they move around easily and be readjusted so you can easily grab what you need, when you need it.

But the ease of finding items and labeling your food is just the tip of the icebergs of reasons Reider is evangelizing for the containers. Honestly, after watching his video, there may be a deli container revolution headed to America’s kitchens. It may not be all that bad.
