This Viral Christmas Tree Lighting Hack Is Genius

The holidays are great, but when it comes to decorating for them, stringing lights can be one of the most stressful moments of the year. But, yet again, TikTok has a viral Christmas tree lighting hack that may help you out.

TikTok user @mrsclarehoops is being credited as one of the creators of this hack. In her video, she explains that she used to decorate Christmas trees professionally (Can we get a video on how to get that job?), and that stringing your lights by “coiling” them (aka winding them around your tree horizontally) is not the right move. Instead, she explains that you should use the “zig-zag” method. To do so, you only string the outside of the tree starting at the top and working your way down to the bottom in a vertical pattern. She says that this method prevents you from wasting lights on the back of your tree and that if a set breaks, it can be removed and replaced easily.

Her hack has taken off, with others replicating her idea on the app and decorating their own trees similarly. If you have yet to decorate your tree and are looking to avoid the hassle (and potential arguments) of stringing lights, this hack may be for you.
