There’s some stellar news for sparkling wine fans. Prosecco Rosé is officially coming to the States! If you’re thinking, “Wait, I’ve seen sparkling rosé before,” you’re right. But the prosecco version is brand-new.
Let’s talk prosecco for a moment to understand why this is major. Like champagne, the bubbly drink comes from a specific region in Italy. Until now, wine manufacturers in the region were bound to the rules of a designation of origin that stated a rosé version of the wine was off-limits.
This all changed in May 2020 when the Italian National Wine Committee granted some changes to the designation of origin. Now, wine brands, including Mionetto, La Marca, and Gancia, are allowed to create the pink sparkling drink.
You can check out more info on La Marca’s Instagram page, but because it’s an alcohol-related post, you have to be logged in to see it.
For those who are fans of both prosecco and rosé, the new drink is a bubbly dream come true (and it looks gorgeous in a flute, to boot). If you want to get your hands on the new version of prosecco, it’s set to launch this month, but likely won’t be in stores until January 2021. Still, that’s a great way to start the new year off right.
