2020 was the year of takeout. With restaurants shuddered or capacity restricted, ordering from your favorite spot was likely a common occurrence. But what was everyone getting? GrubHub broke down each state’s favorite food and some of the larger trends within its takeout orders.
The online ordering and delivery service looked at the orders placed in 2020 to determine which food topped the list for each state and some may surprise you. For example, butternut squash ravioli, a particularly specific dish, topped the list in Arizona. Meanwhile, in Oklahoma, creme brulee reigned supreme. In Wisconsin, Italian beef made the list.
But states’ favorite foods weren’t the only information the service released. It also explored trends like the most popular pizza topping (yes, it’s a semi-controversial find), burgers, dumplings, and ramen. Plus, it unveiled Americans’ top five ordered food items.
If those states’ odd choices or discovering if your favorite pizza topping is everyone else’s has piqued your curiosity, you can head over to the GrubHub Taste of 2020 site now to see the results.
