For those who ordered gifts from Walmart online or via the retailer’s app this holiday season, there’s some good news about returns. You can now mail returns back and never have to set foot inside a store.
The new policy allows people to use their local FedEx carrier to send back unwanted goods. Gifts will have to have been purchased and shipped by Walmart.com or bought on the app to qualify, and if that’s the case, head to the site, select the item in question, choose return pickup and a date, and then pack everything up, add the label and let FedEx do the rest.
For those who don’t have a printer, there is still an easier way to return, it just means you’ll need to head into your local FedEx. While yes, you’ll still need to venture somewhere, let’s be honest: a FedEx location with five or so people is much better than your local Walmart’s crowds. To opt for this method, select drop off at FedEx instead of return pickup. You’ll be given a return/QR code. Take this and your return into your local FedEx where an associate will scan it, print a label for you, and send it on its way.

In the announcement, Linne Fulcher—the Vice President, Customer Strategy, Science and Journeys, for Walmart U.S—says, “The holidays are stressful enough. No matter how customers buy items we want the returns experience to be easy, safe and seamless. We’re proud of the changes we’re making to take some of the stress — and those unwanted Christmas sweaters — off our customers’ backs.”
