The end of the open floor plan, massive and multi-purpose tables, and gallery walls are just a few of the design trends slated to be popular in 2021. Half door showers, however, may be the most unexpected.

What exactly is a half door shower? Well, it’s basically exactly what it sounds like—a shower that only has half a door. The bathroom design trend sees a door placed only at the portion of the shower where the head is located. The half-door prevents water from escaping out into the bathroom and offers a chic minimalist look to a bathroom. And it’s trending.

According to Domino, the look was one of the most liked bathroom design trends of 2020, and it’s likely to continue into the new year. In fact, one of the site’s most-liked Instagram photos was a half shower door in a rectangular shape with a black border that offered a modern look. However, there are several different design options including curved tops and doors that attach to shower and tub combos. If you want to see more of this trend, you can check out Domino’s full rundown of the style.
