Blow Out the Candles Germ-Free with This Birthday Cake Hack

The pandemic has made us all question a lot of things, like why was a handshake ever deemed to be sanitary? We don’t know where those hands have been! Birthday candles are another conundrum. Do you really want to eat some cake after someone blows out the candles and spits all over it? Fortunately, there’s now a solution.

TikTok content creator, @krystal_rochelle_, has discovered the perfect way to avoid a germy cake when celebrating someone’s birthday. While candles are traditionally inserted into the cake, Krystal’s solution is to stick them to the plastic top that often accompanies store-bought cakes.

And no, you don’t have to shove the candles through the plastic. Instead, you just melt a bit of the bottom of the candle so it adheres to the plastic top.

If you’re worried that they’ll fall down whenever the birthday boy or girl blows them out, there’s a second video that proves they’ll remain perfectly in place! So, next time you have a celebration and want to keep things bacteria-free (COVID-19 or not), this hack is the way to go!
