This year’s Super Bowl (Feb. 7) will be exciting, even if you’re not cheering for the Buccaneers or the Chiefs. Why? Because of the food, of course! Google has released the most popular Super Bowl food in each state, but there was an obvious overall winner.
To get the results, Google looked at searches leading up to the big game last year and found the most searched item in each state.
So, what came out on top? Dips! While the type varied between states, this faithful partner of chips and veggies dominated the country, with 17 states serving some form of it at Super Bowl parties. The most popular was the oh-so-famous 7-Layer Dip, which topped the list in six states. Other popular options were spinach artichoke and buffalo chicken.
But not all states are into dips. Appetizers also made quite a showing, with pigs in a blanket, pizza rolls, and jalapeño poppers all grabbing spots on the map. While savory foods were, by far, the largest category, desserts were also a favorite in a few states. For example, Texas, Florida, and Pennsylvania all love cake at their Super Bowl celebrations.
