Those who aren’t ardent bakers or home cooks might not know the famous appliance brand debuts a new color each year. Last year, it was Kyoto Glow, a shade of yellow-green that ended up taking second place overall as the brand’s most popular shade of 2020.
For 2021, the brand has gone warmer with Honey. The new color option is a golden-meets-orange color that’s slightly deeper than the color of its namesake. According to the brand’s press release, the shade’s tone was intentional, meant to “radiate positivity and warmth.”
Each year, KitchenAid examines cultural moments and researches consumer trends to determine its new color. For 2021, the need for connection led the brand to choose Honey.
“We have seen a growing community instinct to work together for the collective good,” Jessica McConnell, director of Whirlpool Color, Finish & Material Design, said in a press release. “Also, the warm and attractive tones have dominated in various areas of life, therefore we see it everywhere, from the home to fashion.”
