This Is the Most Searched Home Décor Item in the US

Interior design is more complicated than it might sound. Sure, it involves choosing furniture, paint colors, and wall art. However, it’s the details that really bring the overall look together. This idea is reinforced by the home accent item Americans searched for the most over the last year.

It seems that people really love those little touches. Workshopedia compiled a list of the 45 most popular home items for sale at five major retailers. Then, by looking at Google Shopping Trends over the last year, the site discovered which of the items were the most popular in each state.

But what about the overall winner? Well, that would be rugs. They topped the list in seven states, outpacing the next item by quite a margin. Their popularity makes sense as they have a myriad of uses. From protecting flooring in high-traffic areas to adding much-needed pops of color, they’re both functional and decorative.

As for the runners-up on the list, vase fillers, stools, candles, and baskets all tied for second place, reaching the most popular spot in three states each.
