This DIY Wasp and Bee Repellent Can Save Your Summer

If you hate the smell of citronella but also loathe wasps (does anyone like them?), there’s an easy solution! You can make an all-natural wasp and bee repellent with just two ingredients, and you probably already have them in your kitchen.

While citronella candles and bug sprays are the usual go-to’s for keeping wasps and bees at bay, their scents and the sticky residue they leave behind aren’t fun.

Fortunately, Taste of Home recommended a more natural remedy, and all you need is a lemon and some cloves. First, you just slice the lemon in half. Then, grab a handful of cloves and stick them into both pieces of lemon.

But if you don't mind the scent, a citronella candle can still be nice.

Set both lemon halves near where you’ll be lounging outside, and boom! You now have a natural bee and wasp repellent that smells so good.

If this all sounds a bit too “old wives’ tale” to you, rest assured—studies have shown that clove essential oil (and, by extension, cloves themselves) can “significantly” repel wasps. Your lemon clove repellent will keep you safe from being stung when you’re outdoors.

Need to banish mosquitos, as well? Try these methods for keeping those bloodsuckers at bay.
