If the next area on your renovation to-do list is the bathroom, you might want to consider incorporating the trendiest color so far in 2021. You’ll have to be prepared to make a statement, though.
Sanctuary Bathrooms looked at Google search results to determine the most popular bathroom trends for 2021 and discovered burgundy was the most-searched color so far this year. In fact, according to Richard Roberts, the director of the company, the color surged 300% earlier this year.
You don’t have to paint the whole room burgundy (but if you want to, go for it!). Roberts actually recommended painting a feature wall, as the bold color can completely overpower a space. Of course, there’s also the option to just add a few burgundy accents, like towels or rugs.
Mint green (with search results that skyrocketed 200% so far this year) is another color slated to be popular for bathrooms. Its popularity is likely due to an increase in vintage-style spaces. However, you don’t have to turn your bathroom into an ice cream shop.
“Focus on the flooring and window dressings, which will allow the tone to bounce around the room,” Roberts told Apartment Therapy. “Mint green subway tiles on walls, or green patterned mosaic tiles on floors, can both complement a classic white suite beautifully.”
So, if a bathroom update is on the agenda this spring, you might want to pick up some burgundy or mint color samples at the home improvement store.
