Redecorating? Pick Up Some Plates at the Thrift Store

If you’re decorating on a budget and have some table or wall space to fill, it’s time to head to the dishware section at the thrift store and look for some plates.

Kate Hume, owner of Interiors by Kate Hume, told Apartment Therapy that a few mismatched plates in different colors can be a great way to jazz up a table. Hume actually shops on eBay for vintage plates and places flowers between them as an added touch.

It’s not just your tablescapes you can jazz up with some mismatched dishware, though. Hume also noted that plates make great wall décor. Plus, given that gallery walls are a major design trend right now, it would be easy to work them in.

Rather than adding more framed photos, give your décor a three-dimensional feel by mounting some plates instead. Like Hume, you can always grab some on eBay, but you can find plates just about anywhere, from your local donation or consignment shop to yard sales.

Here are some more ideas for creating an eye-catching gallery wall in any room.
