In the throes of spring cleaning and feeling the urge to update your space? If so, there are plenty of design trends for you to consider. Believe it or not, though, one of the most popular this spring and summer is wallpaper.
If you haven’t paid any attention to the wallpaper market recently, images of messy glue and that heinous print from your grandmother’s bathroom might come to mind.
However, the wallpaper market has changed drastically. Not only are there new stick-on (and easily removable) options, but the prints have also been updated. That’s why Amy Peltier, owner of Peltier’s Interiors, recommends them.
“It’s a quick and affordable way to update your decor without having to make a huge commitment,” Peltier told Apartment Therapy. “You can find anything from bold oversized florals and subtle grasscloths, to edgy animal prints.”
But if you’re still skeptical about coating an entire wall in a pattern, you can use wallpaper in subtler ways as well. According to Christina Kim, owner of Christina Kim Interior Design, a clever way to do this is to use wallpaper on ceilings or the backs of bookcases to add pops of a pattern or color.
She recommended sticking to smaller patterns, though, just to avoid “overwhelming the space.”
Curious what other trends will be big this spring and summer, you can find all the predictions here. Need some more design ideas? You might want to update a room with this year’s hottest paint color.
