TikTok Is Somehow Making Brussels Sprouts Popular

Raw Brussels sprouts, smashed sprouts, and baked sprouts covered in cheese and chipotle mayo.

Some vegetables get a bad rep, and Brussels sprouts (and their smell) are one of them. However, thanks to this new TikTok recipe, you might actually be able to get your kids to eat them.

Smashed Brussels sprouts is the latest viral recipe on TikTok, and while it might not overtake that feta pasta dish that exploded earlier this year, they do look delicious. It also might be the best way to get reluctant eaters (kids or not) to add some greens to their diet.

To create the dish, @foodingwithfaith in the video below first chops the knobby ends off the Brussels sprouts. Then, she coats the veggies in a tablespoon of olive oil, a teaspoon each of onion and garlic powder, cracked pepper, and salt.

Next, she lays them flat on a piece of parchment paper on a cookie sheet. Then, using a mason jar (you can also use a glass), she smashes them until they’re flat. Bake them for 25 minutes at 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Add some shredded mozzarella on top, bake for five more minutes, and then top with some chipotle mayo.
