If you’re house hunting, you are, of course, on the lookout for all the positive things you want in a home. However, you’re also probably looking for signs that something is amiss, and this bathroom warning sign is one to add to your list.

Peter Fressola, an associate broker at Crossroads Realty in New Jersey, told Apartment Therapy that cracked tile is definitely something to note in a bathroom. It’s not always a bad sign—vertical cracks are just normal signs of a house settling. It’s the horizontal cracks that are concerning as, according to Fressola, it could be structural issues causing the splitting.

Kathryn Bishop, a realtor at Beverly & Co. in California, also told the outlet that stains in the grout and around the edges of the tub by the walls are also worth noting, as they could be a sign of water damage.

Of course, it’s not just the interior details you should pay attention to when you’re looking for a new home. You’ll want to look at certain things outside, as well.
