Welcome back to the latest installment of the fast-food chicken sandwich wars. This time, it’s Burger King bringing out a contender.
In case you missed it, back in February, Burger King announced it would be debuting its own chicken sandwich after a string of competitors (McDonald’s, Popeye’s, and KFC) had already done so. At that time, BK didn’t give an official release date or any details about the sandwich.
Now, all has been revealed.
The new, aptly titled Ch’King sandwich, will launch nationwide June 3. It will come on a toasted potato bun, with pickles, savory signature sauce, and a piece of hand-breaded chicken. You’ll also be able to get a spicy version, coated with a glaze, or the deluxe with lettuce and tomato.
Sounds pretty good, eh? According to Ellie Doty, chief marketing officer of Burger King North America, even the company was surprised by the results.
“We said we would create a delicious hand-breaded chicken sandwich that was worth the wait,” Doty said in a press release. “We just didn’t anticipate it would turn out quite this good.”
As part of the launch, you’ll also qualify for a free Whopper June 3-20 when you order a Ch’King via the app. So, if you don’t like one, you can have the other!
BK isn’t the only chain with a meaty new launch—you can now get bacon on your avocado toast at Dunkin’.
